Just west of Lafayette and nestled up against the east side of the Berkeley Hills is the pleasant town of Orinda. Orinda's two areas of commerce are referred to as Theater Square and Village Square. Theater Square is centrally located and features the historic Art Deco Orinda Theater as well as popular shops and restaurants. Village Square hosts several venues including Orinda Books which offers a reading series featuring local poets and literary notables. Just outside of the downtown area, the Bruns Amphitheatre showcases Shakespeare productions by the award-winning Cal Shakes Theater Company. Orinda's residential communities can be found tucked away in the many valleys and hillsides. Homes are generally on large lots in Spanish-Mediterranean and contemporary styles along with custom multi-million dollar homes sprinkled along the picturesque hills. In addition to Orinda's own Oaks Park and Huckleberry Botanic Regional Reserve, Orinda is surrounded by an extensive network of trails provided by Tilden Regional Park, San Pablo Reservoir, Briones Regional Park and the Lafayette Reservoir.
